VPO/Dudamel: L.A. Times calls Centre “a college that consistently punches above its weight”

While the Centre College community has been eagerly anticipating the North American debut of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel for quite some time, those who have only recently learned about the event may be wondering why such a momentous occasion is occurring first not at Carnegie Hall but Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts.

On Friday, Sept. 24, the L.A. Times explained why.

Bringing the concert, part of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to Centre was no easy task, and the newspaper shares the many steps (including the shipping of chocolates and Kentucky bourbon overseas) taken to accomplish the goal.
