My CENTRE Life is back and better than ever

In 2005, when My CENTRE Life debuted, student blogs were relatively new to the Internet. Now, they’re fairly common as Centre College is embarking on its sixth season of MCL. Starting this year, Centre has differentiated its student blogs from the rest. How? Bloggers are posting new information as it happens, so the Centre experience is captured in real time and in real life.

All seven bloggers have their own Tumblr account, which they can blog to on the fly. And they do. This means more candid posts, more up-to-date chronicles and more authentic perspectives. In fact, the seven bloggers have already posted a wealth of commentary on Move-In Day, Orientation and their first classes of the year. Readers will also find plenty of photos, some videos and other interesting tidbits bloggers collect from around the web.

Bloggers aren’t just first-year students anymore; there are bloggers from almost every class. (There are no juniors this year.) First-years: Alex from Jamestown, Ky.; CJ from Memphis; and Anthony from Alpharetta, Ga. Sophomores: Annie from Cincinnati and Liz from Boston. Seniors: Josh from Brodhead, Ky., and Sam from Newburgh, Ind.

The MCL blogs are interactive. A full commenting system has been implemented on the individual students’ blogs that will allow readers to add their thoughts to the blogger’s postings. Readers can even anonymously ask a blogger a question and have it answered in his or her blog feed.
