Centre welcomes prospective students to campus for fall open house events
September 30, 2010 By Leigh Ivey
Centre will host three Find Your Flame open house events thisfall: Friday, Oct. 8; Friday, Oct. 29; and Sunday, Nov. 7.
Open houses “offer incredible access to Centre’s resources in ashort amount of time—ideal for time-crunched high school seniors
and their parents,” says admission counselor Natalie Frost.
With classes back in full swing and another school year well underway, fall is the perfect time for prospective students to visit Centre College.
Although students wishing to see for themselves if “Centre fits” are encouraged to visit the College anytime, Centre hosts several open house events throughout the year to allow students to discover the College in a well-structured, group setting. “Centre’s open houses, like the upcoming Find Your Flame events, offer incredible access to Centre’s resources in a short amount of time—ideal for time-crunched high school seniors and their parents,” admission counselor Natalie Frost says.
Three Find Your Flame Days are scheduled for the fall: Friday, Oct. 8; Friday, Oct. 29; and Sunday, Nov. 7.
Attending events like these, Frost adds, is “an integral part of the college-decision making process. Prospective students can read stacks and stacks of college guidebooks but there is no way to determine if a school is a good fit until they’ve stepped on campus.”
Unlike individual campus visits, which are tailored to each prospective student’s interests, open house events offer students the opportunity to hear from a wide variety of current students and to meet with faculty from a variety of disciplines. As they do on individual visits, they also have the chance to take a guided campus tour and grab a bite to eat in the College’s dining commons.
During the Find Your Flame event, visitors will attend a panel discussion with professors, students and admission staff about the Centre experience; they will also have the chance for one-on-one discussions with people who can convey to prospective students what it means to be a part of the Centre community.
Information on financial aid and admission will also be available, with staff on hand to explain in detail the processes for students and their families.
