Centre College.

While every season offers many reasons for prospective students to visit Centre College, summer is an especially favorable time to spend a day on campus. While students are away for their summer vacation, the pace at Centre slows down, allowing prospective students and their parents to learn about the College in a most relaxed atmosphere.

During regular summer campus visits, prospective students have the opportunity to take campus tours; speak with admission counselors; and, if they call ahead to schedule a visit, meet with faculty members from a specific program. Coaches are also happy to meet with students and their families during the summer months.

While standard summer campus visits are tailored to a prospective student’s interests, summer open house events (as well as open houses held during other seasons at Centre) offer more regulated schedules.

“Open houses are a great and easy way to get a taste of what life as a student is like,” says Dawn Brown-Piatt, admission counselor. “And there’s no substitute for actually visiting a college.”

This summer, Centre’s office of admission will be holding three open house events. The first will be on Tuesday, June 18, followed by events on July 9 and 23. Registration for all three events will begin at 9:30 a.m., and each will conclude with a lemonade reception at 12:30 p.m.

“Participating in open house events like these can be very worthwhile,” says admission counselor Ali Hamilton. “Not only do they provide a great introduction to Centre in a short amount of time, but it’s also reassuring for students to meet others who are in the same stage of the college search.”
