Centre remains Kentucky’s only U.S. News Top-50 institution

Centre has maintained its place among the top 50 nationalliberal arts colleges in the 2011 U.S. News & World Report
rankings. The College was also included on the 2011 “Great
Colleges, Great Prices” list.
Centre is the only Kentucky school on the 2011 U.S. News “StrongCommitment to Teaching” list.
Centre College has maintained its place among the top 50 national liberal arts colleges in the 2011 U.S. News & World Report rankings, released Aug. 17. Centre is No. 47 among liberal arts colleges, in a four-way tie with Dickinson, Gettysburg and Rhodes colleges.
Williams holds the No. 1 national liberal arts college ranking, followed by Amherst, Swarthmore and Middlebury.
Centre remains the highest nationally ranked Kentucky college or university. Centre was also included on the U.S. News “Great Colleges, Great Prices” list, in the No. 26 spot. In addition, Centre is the only Kentucky school on the “Strong Commitment to Teaching” list (where it is in an eight-way tie for 9th).
Other Kentucky schools included in the “liberal arts colleges” category of the U.S. News rankings are Berea College (in a four-way tie for 67th); Transylvania University (in a five-way tie for 88th); Asbury University and Georgetown College (both in a four-way tie for 162nd); and Kentucky Wesleyan and Lindsey Wilson colleges (second tier).
In the “best national universities” category, the University of Kentucky is in a three-way tie for 129th, and the University of Louisville is in a three-way tie for 176th.
Centre’s high U.S. News ranking is among a number of favorable ratings the College has earned. The College has been praised not only by U.S. News but also in the Princeton Review, Consumers Digest, Colleges That Change Lives, National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), and Kiplinger. Forbes magazine recently ranked Centre No. 24 among all colleges and universities in the nation.
