1. Position at Centre?
Publications/Web Assistant; I’m a member of the Communications Office staff, and I work with many different people and offices on campus. I do the online weekly newsletter, Notesworthy, as well as work with athletics, admissions and other offices on campus for publication and web projects.

2. Where did you grow up (and describe the place in one phrase or sentence)?
I grew up in Danville and have always loved it here. Danville is a very pretty town and a great place to grow up and make lifetime friends.

3. What are your hobbies? I tell people my hobbies are exercising, volunteering and gardening, and that’s partially true, but I also like napping, Netflix, hanging out with friends, going to restaurants, cooking and mostly just kicking back and watching movies...I love movies. I feel a Star Wars marathon coming soon.

4. What is your dream vacation?
I would love to go to Hawaii with someone special someday.

5. Favorite artist and/or work of art?
My favorite artist has always been a local artist and childhood friend, Andrea. I also admire Thomas Kincaid’s work, and I like blown glass works like those done by Centre’s Stephen Powell and artists like him.

6. Favorite novel or poem?
Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite books. I collect and try to read all James Patterson novels featuring Alex Cross. I love the poem Desiderata, which should just be a guideline for how we live our lives. I also love the Serenity Prayer.

7. Favorite sport (to watch or play)?
I love to watch ice figure-skating. I only wish I could skate that gracefully.

8. Favorite TV show?
It’s a tie between Big Bang Theory and Hot in Cleveland.

9. Favorite album? Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.

10. Favorite holiday?
Valentines Day, which is also the day after my birthday, so I get all kinds of pampering that day and I love that!

11. Favorite food?
T.G.I. Fridays’ Sizzlin’ Chicken and Cheese. Two garlic-marinated chicken breasts sautéed and prepared on a sizzling skillet of onions, peppers and melted American and Mexican cheeses. Served with creamy mashed potatoes. Yummmmy! Can we go there now?

12. Most prized possession?
Other than my home, my Mazda Tribute, and my DVD movie collection I would have to say my favorite thing is my blue jeans.

13. Three people, living or deceased, who you’d invite to the same dinner party?
Any of the ladies from Hot in Cleveland. They are hillarious!

14. Favorite aspect of your job?
Working in the new CSS format we’re using for building web pages. I like working with others, and I cherish the friendships I’ve made here.

15. Most memorable experience of your youth?
I really enjoyed acting at the Pioneer Playhouse as a teenager, but before that, I remember spending Saturdays with my dad at the firestation while my mother did her shopping and got her hair done. My dad was a fireman, and he would let me slide down the pole and play on the firetruck and give me gum from the gumball machine (which my mother forbid me to have). As I got older, he taught me how to work on cars, which he often did on down time at the firestation. I think he thought I was a boy for a long time.

16. What would you be doing if you weren't working at Centre?
Working in a hospital helping people and hopefully making their days a little easier.

17. Educational experience that's been most helpful to you?
My education after high school mostly came from working in our family-owned print shop. I was working at a very early age when all the other kids seemed to be outside playing. I didn’t understand it then, but now I’m so thankful for the work ethic my parents instilled in me and for all the other life-lessons I was so lucky to learn by just being with my parents so much. I was always fortunate to be able to have on-the-job training in most any job I’ve ever had.

18. Fictional character in whose shoes you’d love to spend a day?
Samantha from Bewitched. It would be nice to be able to get anything you wanted with just a twitch.

19. Favorite place on campus?
I love the Three Graces fountain located in the Benefactors Plaza. The Three Graces represent the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome of Greek mythology and the aspects of the spirit of giving: gracefulness, peace and happiness.

20. Advice you’d give to a first-year college student to make success more likely?
Enjoy being in an environment where everyone is here to learn and grow. Classes, convocations and Norton Center events are privileges, and you should get the most out of all of them.
