Centre College welcomed the largest incoming class in Centre’s history—408 members of the Class of 2026—as they arrived on campus Wednesday, August 24.

Here’s a breakdown of the stats, figures and first-year facts outlining the record-breaking Class of #Centre2026, which is equally as impressive in experiences as they are in quantity:

  • Represented are 28 states and 13 countries outside of the U.S. The strongest showings are from Georgia, Ohio and Tennessee.
  • Domestic students from underrepresented backgrounds and international students comprise 27 percent of this class.
  • A high-achieving, ambitious first-generation group of 77 will be the first in their families to attend college.
  • Centre is test-optional for admission and scholarship consideration, however, for the 60 percent who opted to submit standardized tests, the average ACT superscore was a 29.
  • Centre Athletics welcomed a record-breaking 210 varsity student-athletes.
  • For the second year, the College will welcome 20 Posse Scholars. This is the 17th cohort of the Boston Posse and the second cohort of National Posse students.
  • The cohorts for the College’s premier scholarships, Brown Fellows, Grissom Scholars, Lincoln Scholars, the Bonner Program, and the New Horizons Program, are especially strong, as well as music, language, theater and visual arts scholars.
  • The leading potential majors as noted on applications include: business, biology, psychology, economics and finance, English and creative writing, behavioral neuroscience, and computer science.
