The Norton Center asks that all students attending events observe the following rules:

Talking is inappropriate and disturbs those patrons who have paid to attend the event.
No eating or drinking, except bottled water, while inside Newlin Hall or the Weisiger Theatre.
You are expected to be attentive and demonstrate mature, polite and civil behavior. You not only represent yourself, but you also represent your peers, faculty and staff of Centre College.
Finally, students exhibiting inappropriate behavior may be told to leave by members of the audience, faculty, staff or student convocation workers and will not receive credit if the event is a convocation.

Ms. Salerno-Sonnenberg will discuss musical leadership in chamber music and will describe her experience as the music director for the New Century Chamber Orchestra. A question and answer session will follow.

Wednesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 18. Student ticket pick up. Students, get your tickets for Cyrano de Bergerac and The Taming of the Shrew during regular box office hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Student tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis until the block of tickets is distributed. Please present your Centre Student ID. You may pick up your ticket and up to three additional Centre student tickets as long as you have their IDs. Student tickets may not be held on reserve and a fee of $2 will be charged for ticket exchanges.
Wednesday, Jan. 16. CentrePeace presents "War on Drugs, War on People." A Witness for Peace documentary that addresses human rights violations that have taken place during the War on Drugs in Colombia, as well the United States' involvement. Following the film there will be a discussion led by a student who attended a Witness for Peace delegation this summer. Learn more about the Colombian labor rights violations, and what we can do to support the Colombian GM autoworkers. Time/Place: 8 p.m., Campus Center 201. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Sunday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Jan. 21. Performance of Far Away by Caryl Churchill. Far Away is set in a dystopian society where everyone and everything is at war and no one knows who to trust. The performances are completely student produced and are directed by Olivia Palmer. Time/Place: 7:30 p.m., the Black Box in Grant Hall.
Sunday, Jan. 20. Get Centred. A contemplative Christian worship service in the candlelit sanctuary with a half hour of scripture, prayer, music and silent reflection is open to everyone. Time/Place: 10 p.m., Presbyterian Church.
Tuesday, Jan. 22. CentreTerm 2014 - England Regional Theatre Tour Meeting. Discover England through touring the cities and countryside of that country and visiting the theatres that are often at the heart of those communities. Traveling in our own bus with the freedom to stop and explore, we will visit Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Stratford and half a dozen other places and see plays! Led by Centre’s resident Englishman and Theatre guru Tony Haigh, this trip will be the experience of a lifetime. No previous theatre experience required. Time/Place: 4:30 p.m., Grant 502.
Wednesday, Jan. 23. Performance of The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged). Come see fellow students in a completely student produced version of The Bible (abridged), the wildly comedic show originally performed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company takes an affectionate and yet irreverent look at everyone's favorite book. Directed by Michael duPont. Time/Place: 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., Weisiger Theater.

Photos from the Debate needed for video. The Development Office is putting together a Debate related video to show to major donors and trustees at an event the end of January. We are in need of photos that show Centre students interacting or posing with the candidates, journalists or politicians. If you have a photo you would like to share please email it to mona.wyatt@centre.edu or to the producer kim@message-matters.net. Save photos as “actual size” as video files need to be as large as possible. We will give you photo credit and a copy of the video as a keepsake!
Centre is now part of the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty, a group of 20 schools dedicated to academic opportunities and internship experiences that highlight poverty on a local, national and global level.

RecycleMania Coming Soon! Watch for more details!
RecycleMania springs back into action as college campuses compete to see who can reduce, reuse and recycle the most on-campus waste. Centre is once again participating in RecycleMania, which officially begins on Feb. 3 and ends on March 30. The two week trial period begins Jan. 20. For eight weeks, schools across the country recycle as much as possible for recognition as green campuses. In years past, Centre has recycled more than ten tons of weight.
