Welcome to Notesworthy

physics Wednesday, Feb. 16. The Physics Film Series presents a
film/lecture on quantum computing, “Harnessing the Quantum
World,” by Dr. Raymond Laflamme from the University of Waterloo.
Are you ready for this upgrade? The very foundation of computer
science is changing. As Moore's Law draws to a close, rules of
quantum physics are taking over. Learn how leading researchers
are using counterintuitive effects, such as superposition, in
their quest to build ultra-powerful quantum computers. You'll
see how quantum particles behave, are controlled and, ultimately,
used to calculate. All are welcome to view this 70-minute filmed
lecture. Click here for the current schedule of colloquia and films.
Time/Place: 4-5 p.m., Olin 124.
