How much of the world would you like to see?

International study is a way of life at Centre. About 85 percent
of all Centre students study abroad at least once, putting
Centre in the top three of the 3,500 colleges and universities
in the country.

merida Want to spend the summer in Strasbourg? The summer
2012 Strasbourg program will take place May 21 through
June 11. Class excursions will transport students to
Baden-Baden in Germany across the Rhine River and the
Vosges Mountains in Alsace. The second weekend is free
for individual travel in Europe from Thursday-Sunday
evening; the last few days of the course are conducted

recycling RecycleMania is now through March 31!
Click here to see up-to-date progress. RecycleMania is a
friendly 10-week competition among college and university
recycling programs nationwide that provides the campus
community with a fun, proactive activity in waste reduction.
Campuses compete to see which institution can collect the
largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest
amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash
per capita or have the highest recycling rate. Interested in

Meetings/Gatherings

Sundays (during regular academic term). Get Centred is a contemplative Christian worship service held on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. in the candlelit sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church. This half-hour service of music, prayer, scripture readings, and silence is a great way to start the week.

CONVO: Tuesday, March 13. Centre Singers and CentreBrass Yucatan Peninsula Tour Concert. Join the Centre Singers and CentreBrass as they perform selections from their tour repertoire before embarking on their tour of the Yucatan Peninsula, March 16-24. They will perform a wide variety of music from differing styles, periods and traditions. Time/Place: 7:30 p.m., Weisiger Theatre.

Tuesday, March 13. A Physics Colloquium Talk by U.K. physics graduate student and former Centre physics student Joshua Qualls. He will discuss what it’s like it physics graduate school, including his research and what he wishes he knew as a Centre physics student. Come find out more about what physics graduate school is like. All are welcome. Time/Place: The talk begins at 4:10 in Olin 124. Come for refreshments at 4 p.m.

Students may pick up tickets this week for these upcoming shows: Moulin Rouge-The Ballet (March 27 - Convocation), Brentano String Quartet (April 5 – Convocation), Australian Chamber Orchestra (April 13 – Convocation) and We Are What We Eat (April 17). Please visit NortonCenter.com for information about these performances. There are tickets reserved for Centre students for each of these performances and are available on a first-come, first-served basis until the block of tickets is distributed. To get your free ticket to any of the above mentioned shows, please present your Centre College Student ID at the Norton Center Box Office during the hours of 9 a.m to 4 p.m. You may pick up your ticket and up to three additional Centre Students’ tickets as long as you have their IDs with you. Student tickets may not be held on reserve and a fee of $2 will be charged for any ticket exchanges. Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17. Attention former speakers, debaters and forensicators. The Kentucky National Forensic League will hold its annual speech and debate tournament at Centre. KYNFL seeks to hire Centre students with debate and/or speech team experience to judge rounds; faculty and staff are also welcome. Friday, April 27. Staff Congress is proud to sponsor Useful Strategies And A Few Rules For Talking With Centre Parents. Open to both faculty and staff, this session will include Kathy Miles, director of counseling services; Jamey Leahey, associate vice president for legal affairs and gift planning; and Mona Wyatt, director of parent programs and donor relations, as they present a one-hour session on communicating with today’s college parents – including some best practices, things to say or not say and ways that you can help our Centre parents as they try to help their students. Tuesday, April 24. Spring Concerto Concert. The Music Program would like to congratulate the students selected as featured soloists in the Centre Orchestra's Spring Concerto Concert: Andrew Boylan '12, Sarah Palmer '14, Erika Voss '12, and Ben Yeiser '13. Eleven students competed in the auditions which were held Dec. 2 in Weisiger Theatre before a panel of esteemed musicians from across the Bluegrass. Time/Place: 7:30 p.m., Newlin Hall.

Want to work and study in Washington? The Washington Semester Program offers students to take two courses a t American University while serving an internship with a Washington agency for a total of 12 hours credit. Interested students should check out the website and apply online for admission. Applications should be completed by April 1. Accepted students will need to be nominated by Centre. The Samuel Robinson Scholarship awards $2,000 to $5,000 to Presbyterian (USA) juniors or seniors attending Presbyterian related colleges. Applicants must memorize and recite the Westminster Shorter Catechism and write a 2,000 word essay on which question/answer pair in the Westminster Catechism speaks most directly to the Presbyterian Church (USA) today and why. Miscellaneous

Babysitter needed for the summer. Sitter needed for 2 boys, ages 5 and 7 for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (some weeks possibly more). Dates needed are May 15-July 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Must have a car. Pay is $65 a day plus additional money for gas and food. Pool access all summer. Bluegrass Pizza and Pub Tagline Contest! Are you creative? Do you like pizza? If you answered yes to either or both of these questions you are in luck! The Bluegrass Pizza and Pub is taking submissions from Centre students for a “tagline” to be used in future advertising and publications. A tagline is a branding slogan used by companies to succinctly summarize the products or services they offer in a creative and unique way (e.g.: Papa John’s: Better Ingredients, Better Pizza or Nike: Just Do It). Students are invited to submit a tagline for the Bluegrass Pizza and Pub for a chance to win a $25 gift card, courtesy of the owners Colin and Melissa Masters. What we’re looking for:
    • 140 characters or less of your unique creative genius
    • A slogan that is clever, funny and clean (family friendly)
    • Starting with the phrase “Bluegrass Pizza” or “Bluegrass Pizza and Pub”
Rules, deadline and prize: The contest is open only to Centre students! Students are allowed to submit as many taglines as they would like. The winner will be selected by Colin and Melissa sometime in early April and will be contacted via e-mail to coordinate pick up of a $25 gift card. By entering your tagline into the contest, you give Bluegrass Pizza and Pub and affiliates the exclusive right to use your tagline in promotional materials, on Bluegrass Pizza and Pub social media channels, the BluegrassPizzaandPub.com website, and other outlets that relate to the Bluegrass Pizza and Pub.
