many as you need—FOR FREE! I have a large carton of 12 oz.
solo cups with tops that were purchased for a research project
by a former colleague but never used. I’d like to offer them to
fraternities, sororities, or any other college group planning a
social function and needing beverage containers. Just stop by
my office (Y221) and I’ll fix you and your group up with
all you need.

Meetings/Gatherings

Sundays (during regular academic term). Get Centred is a contemplative Christian worship service held on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. in the candlelit sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church. This half-hour service of music, prayer, scripture readings, and silence is a great way to start the week.

Mondays (during regular academic term). Olin 500. This spring the Centre Student Computing Club will be holding the first annual robotic race to circumnavigate the halls of Olin. Join teams and enter the contest! Interested students should come to the CS club meetings or email forrest.stonedahl@centre.edu.

Sunday, May 20. The Baccalaureate Choir welcomes faculty, staff, and student singers for the service. The two required rehearsals are May 8 from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and May 15 from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. If you are a student and have not participated in a college choral ensemble, email barbara.hall@centre.edu to schedule a short audition. Faculty/Staff News

Tom McCollough and Lee Jefferson both presented papers at the Sewanee Medieval Colloquium held at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN on Mar. 30-31. Prof. McCollough's paper, addressed his recent work at Khirbet Qana. "Christian Imperialism and the Colonization of a Jewish Village in Lower Galilee: The Archeological Evidence from Khirbet Qana." Lee Jefferson presented a paper which discusses Christian iconography titled "The Enthroned Jesus and the Miracle-Working Christ: An Assessment of Post-Constantinian Christian Iconography."

Donna Plummer presented at the national conference of the National Science Teachers Association held in Indianapolis 29 March - 1 April. Her presentation "Children's Career Aspirations - Where are the Scientists?" was based on interviews with first- and fifth-grade children at a Danville elementary school.

David Anderson’s new study of the annual burden of crime, “The Cost of Crime,” was accepted for publication in Foundations and Trends in Microeconomics.

Ancient Greek and the New Testament. There will be a two-course sequence in Ancient Greek offered next year. In the fall CLA 111 Introduction to Ancient Greek, and in the spring, CAL121/REL165 New Testament Greek. Volunteer in Appalachia this summer! Christian Appalachian Project is seeking volunteers to serve as counselors, lifeguards, arts and crafts instructors and worship leaders for two summer camps serving children from low-income families in eastern Kentucky. Volunteers serve 3-7 weeks and room and board is provided. Summer Camp season is June 4 - August 3. Babysitter needed for the summer. Sitter needed for 2 boys, ages 5 and 7 for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (some weeks possibly more). Lost/Found: A set of ear buds was found on the first floor of the Campus Center and a laptop charger was found in the Bristro area of Cowan. A set of car keys was found on the 1st floor of Young Hall. Contact the Student Life Office to identify and claim.
