World Camp for Kids
Heather Walls '11 spent five weeks this summer in the Republic of Malawi, located in southeast Africa, volunteering with World Camp for Kids. She and other volunteers taught three-day programs in rural schools near the capital city of Lilongwe. The classes examined HIV/AIDS, gender issues and deforestation.
This photo was taken during morning team-building exercises at Karonga First Primary School. The parachute allows the children to have fun and complete goals together as a team. They inflated the parachute and then tried to knock the air out as quickly as possible. Walls (with the yellow headband) cheers as her partner Robin and her translator Innocent are still sprawled out with the rest of the class.
