Centre in Israel

  • During the recent CentreTerm trip to Israel, students visited the Valley of Kidron, which is filled with tombs. Posing on the Tomb of Zechariah are (top row, left to right) Grace Miles ’12, Lev Rooks-Rapport ’12 and Sarah Fergueson ’13; (bottom row, left to right) Alwyn Mcleod ’11 and Jenny Umaña ’12. “There are three major tombs at the site, one of which is the Tomb of Absalom,” Umaña says. “According to Dr. McCollough, there's a little tale saying that you have to throw a rock at the tomb because Absalom betrayed King David. After hearing this story, Centre students enjoyed a nice afternoon of watching the professors on the trip [Tom McCollough, professor of religion and history and Beth Glazier-McDonald, professor of religion] have a nice rock throwing competition in the Valley.”
