Photo of the Week
On Top of the World
Jack Buchanan ’14 perches atop Lion's Head, a mountain in South Africa's Table Mountain National Park that overlooks Cape Town. Buchanan is participating in a semester abroad program through Cape Town's Marquette University. The service-learning program requires that Buchanan spend three days per week in classes at the University of the Western Cape and two days per week providing first aid assistance for Mothers Unite, a non-profit organization that provides food, educational and arts experiences, and medical attention to low-income and at-risk children in the historically poor Lavender Hill township of Cape Town.
Buchanan says, "Hiking Lion's Head was spectacular—an arduous climb that yielded an incredible view. We were literally looking out at the tip of the continent."
