The trip here was uneventful and long, and I had plenty of time to think. Of course, before leaving I'd realized what it was going to mean, being away for three months, but on the plane I actually started to digest how my life was going to be different for this, albeit short, but still significant time. I felt excitement, but at the same time anxiety about separation from familiarity, home, family and friends that I suspect almost everyone feels when they venture abroad for an extended period. caringly, though, with much excitement and promises of support, and as such, I think I was well prepared.
Arrival was exciting. It was amazing to see China for the first time, to see a foreign land for the first time. This is actually my first trip abroad, and I definitely enjoyed the significance of my first step outside the States. Upon arrival we were assaulted by the heat and humidity, but we were prepared so it was not unbearable. After retrieving our luggage and passing through
