Heather Morton is assistant professor of English. Prior to joining Centre's faculty in 2006, she taught at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Morton's teaching interests include British literature from 1700-1900 with a focus on the Victorian period, and the history and theory of the novel. Her scholarship has addressed Walt Whitman, Robert Browning, and A.C. Swinburne, and she also spent two years at the Walt Whitman Electronic Archive where she created a database of contemporary reviews of Whitman's work.
She graduated cum laude from Williams College with degrees in math and political science, and a master's and Ph.D. in English language and literature at the University of Virginia.
