Clarence Wyatt is professor of history at Centre College, where he holds the Pottinger Distinguished Professorship of History. He has taught at Centre since 1990. Wyatt holds several appointments on the college staff as special assistant to the president, chief planning officer, and a development consultant associated with Centre's development office in various capacities since 1979.

A scholar of recent American history, Wyatt is the author of Paper Soldiers: The American Press and the Vietnam War, an acclaimed book about U.S. press coverage of the war in Vietnam. The book was originally published by W.W. Norton and Co. in 1993 and went through several printings, then was issued in paperback by the University of Chicago Press in 1995.

An energetic teacher, scholar, and writer, Wyatt has guided a travel-study program in Vietnam for Centre and directs the James Graham Brown Scholars leadership project on campus. His opinion pieces about American diplomatic policy have appeared in papers including Newsday and the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Wyatt holds a B.A. from Centre, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky.
