Special Scholarships

Special scholarships are defined with reference to particular areas of study, talent, or accomplishment, and require supplemental application(s). Selection for any special scholarship presumes successful application to the College. Students must submit special application(s) and/or supporting material to the College by the deadlines indicated in order to be considered.

These scholarships are renewable for the recipients' remaining three years at Centre. Larger recognition may supersede smaller awards. Refer to Special Scholarship Checklist to determine complete requirements for each scholarship.

The
Bonner Scholars program is supported by the College and the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation. Up to 10 scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate both financial need and outstanding commitment to community service. Each award guarantees that 100 percent of a student’s documented need will be met through scholarship and/or financial aid (in an amount that covers up to the cost of Centre’s comprehensive fee). In addition, the award provides a $2,000 school-year stipend, compensation for summer service, year-round service/learning programming, and other benefits. Notification: mid-March.

Performing Arts Scholarship (Music and/or Drama) program recognizes talented musicians, actors, and theater technicians. Applicants compete for Performing Arts Scholarships, valued up to $7,500 per year and awarded by the Music and Drama programs. Students should have experience in and a commitment to further personal development in the musical or dramatic arts. Majoring in a performing art is not required. These awards require a separate application and audition or recording. Students apply using the Arts Supplement to the Common Application available at http://www.centre.edu/web/admission/howtoapply.html. We recommend using the paper version. Instead of enclosing a recording with your Arts Supplement remember to contact Gretchen Hines-Ward to schedule your on-campus audition or submit recorded audition to complete your Performing Arts Scholarship application.
