International Applicants Materials Checklist

1. Application for Admission
Apply online using the Common Application.

2. Application Fee
A non-refundable US $40 application fee is required to apply for admission. Fee is waived for online application.

3. Academic Records
Official or attested copies of academic records must be submitted from all secondary schools attended, as well as from any university or other post-secondary institution attended. Records should include the subjects studied and the grade, mark, or other evidence that each subject was completed satisfactorily. Records should explain the grading system.

* If records are not in English, records should be submitted in the original language accompanied by a certified literal translation. Records will not be returned.

4. Official Test Scores
Required: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
Official or attested copies of TOEFL score reports must be submitted, as evidence of English language proficiency, for applicants whose native language is not English. The CEEB code for the TOEFL is 1109.

Optional: SAT I (Reasoning Test Score) or ACT (American College Test)
An SAT I or ACT test score is not required but is recommended if the test is available in your country. Official or attested copies of SAT or ACT score reports must be submitted. Information about the SAT is available at US Consulates, USIS offices, and the SAT office (SAT Program, P.O. Box 6200, Princeton, NJ 08541-6200, USA). For more information on the SAT exam, test location, dates, and registration, visit the College Board Web site at www.collegeboard.com. For more information on the ACT exam, test location, dates, and registration, visit their Web site at at www.ACT.org.

Centre College’s SAT/CEEB code is 1109, and its ACT code is 1506.

5. Teacher Recommendation
One letter of recommendation must be submitted as well as the School Report found in your application. Teachers who are familiar with your recent academic performance should write recommendations.

The writers of recommendations may use the forms provided in the application or submit letters on a separate sheet of paper. The forms in the application can be copied.

Recommendations should be mailed from the writers directly to the Office of Admission (or given to the applicant in a sealed envelope with the writer’s signature across the flap).

6. Essay
Applicants are required to submit at least one essay of 250-500 words written in English. The content of the essay should address one of the specific questions posed on the application.

7. Extracurricular
We invite you to share with us activities that you have been involved with outside the classroom. This may be in the form of volunteer work, leadership offices held, etc.

8. Optional for Students
We invite you to share, on a separate sheet of paper, any additional information that you believe could be important in our evaluation of your application and that the other parts of the application have not given you the opportunity to convey.

9. Optional for Parents
We invite parents to comment, on their son or daughter. Comments from parents can be helpful as we develop an appreciation for the student as a person. We very much want to gain a personal insight into each applicant. Parents may include their comments with the application or send them separately.

10. Financial Aid Application
All international students MUST submit the College Board’s Declaration of Finances Form.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Office of Admission by February 1 for the term beginning in September. We will accept applications after the deadline, but they will be considered only on a space and aid available basis.

Foreign students may not apply early action or early decision to Centre, and may apply only for fall term admission.

We begin making admission decisions and scholarship decisions in February, and the majority of our admission and financial aid letters are mailed, and e-mailed to you during the month of March. If you are admitted and choose to enroll at Centre College, you will then need to remit a US $300.00 non-refundable enrollment deposit by May 1 to secure your admission and financial award.
