To Paris and Back
Before describing a few highlights from our group’s three-day
stay in Paris, I’d like to tell you briefly about a wonderful
experience that we all had the night before leaving. It was
the latest installment in our series of group dinners, designed
to ease the strain on our pocketbooks and, more important, to expose
us to the wide range of cuisine that London offers. On this
evening we were treated to Lebanese fare at a friendly place called
Fatoosh.
Now the food was very good, but it was the atmosphere for which
many of us will remember it all. The music was upbeat –
the waiters even more so – and the service was fast-paced.
About a dozen dishes were served in succession, and we quickly passed
each one around the tables to get a sample before the next one arrived.
The twist was that we weren’t sure how much food was still
to come, so many were surprised to learn that what they had filled
themselves with what roughly qualified as appetizers. Now
that’s what I call a good meal!
