Sadly, we took our last group field trip today. Bath was certainly fun for a classicist. It has many things to offer, but most importantly (at least to me anyway), it houses the remains of a Roman bath that was active from the 1st through 4th centuries. On the site, are also the remains of a temple to Minerva, which is the Roman name for the more recognizable Greek goddess Athena. We left early in the morning from Paddington Station in West London and had a nice, relaxing train trip to Bath where Jay Carnes and David Horne hilariously missed the stop.

They missed the train on our last trip to York, so it has become a running joke that Jay and David will always mess up their train journey somehow. On a side note, I am greatly enjoying train travel and not having to drive everywhere. The London tube and bus system is amazingly simple to figure out and seems like a model more American cities should follow. We depend too greatly on the automobile and petroleum in general, and it doesn't help that our government heavily subsidizes the price of oil, driving down the price and putting more people on the road.
