I left France with an open mind  to the world beyond America . . . and an appreciation for air conditioning. I also gained an understanding of the French people and their culture. American culture seems to be a complete opposite of French culture in more ways than one. For example, French children would not dare talk back to their parents. They take hours to eat a meal and usually are late because time is simply relative in France. However, in America, we live for fast food and hurry around to get to places on time.

The stress of the American life is something that French people don't understand. My advice for those planning on traveling to Strasbourg is the same advice that Julie James told me. Come to France with an open mind, eager to learn how the French people live. Talk to as many people as you can and challenge yourself to explore all there is to explore in the city. Try new foods and listen to the French music. It's all about becoming a French citizen for the time that you are there. Don't consider yourself a tourist anymore. Indulge in all the great things that France has to offer!
