Memorably, Robby gave three of his shirts to local kids in exchange for a bracelet. So now there is a kid running around Bunaken with a Sigma Chi Formal t-shirt. The citizens of Bunaken Island are content with their lives. They’re vibrant, charismatic, understanding, intelligent and, most importantly, anxious to share their home with visitors from around the world. It seems that we could all take a page out of their book and learn to enjoy the blessings in our lives.

Aside from the huts, our Bunaken Island adventure served as a perfect ending to our trip. We relaxed on the beach, snorkeled at a world-renowned reef, played cards with our friends, met the locals, and, most of all, looked back over the lessons we had learned in the previous weeks. The beachfront location allowed the group to reminisce over the past few weeks and realize how we’d changed as a result of our surroundings. We had barely skimmed the surface of Indonesia, but I, personally, had learned more in three weeks of travel, than I ever did in a semester of studying out of a book.
