After the movie Satomi and I headed over to the local bowling alley for some more fun. This was also my first bowling trip in Japan, and it proved to be interesting as well. After paying for our lane, I expected the worker to ask for my shoe size; that’s how it works in America, right? Japan employs a different system however; they have bowling shoe vending machines. Each shoe size has its own vending machine and you just put in your money and the shoes pop out.

I was completely surprised by this system, and of course I snapped some photos. The lanes and bowling balls seemed to be standard bowling alley fair though. Once we started, I noticed from the corner of my eye that many of the other bowlers would stare at me as I bowled. I guess they expected me to be really good since bowling is an American sport? Somehow, with all eyes on me, I bowled one of the best games of my life scoring a 153. I don’t know if I lived up to their expectations, but I was pleased. Just don’t expect to see me on the PBA tour anytime soon.
