cold flicking yen at each other while hundreds, if not thousands, of people joined the Prince in the building only meters away and watched what we can only assume to be a magnificent show. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun. There’s a lot to say for being easily amused.

On Saturday the party continued with the beginning of Kazukisai, YPU’s annual festival. All the student organizations turned out in little tents selling food while student bands and dance groups performed on a big stage. Somehow we ended

up making gyoza (boiled Chinese dumplings… oishii!) with the international student’s booth (a group that I somehow had no idea existed up until this point), which turned out to be a pretty good way to occupy the day. Every now and then we wandered off in search of curry bread and other delectable treats, or gathered by the stage to cheer on our friends in aikido, dance, and, most comically, the Mr/Ms YPU pageant.
On the whole, this was an excellent weekend; it definitely wasn’t lacking in variety. It seems like every day there’s something new to experience, and so far it’s been a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what the coming months will bring!
