Mérida Musings:  Class Acts

Now that we’re back in home sweet Mérida, some might wonder what exactly we do when not dodging hurricanes, mudslides, and other natural disasters.

Obviously, a significant aspect of our lives here in Mérida is our courses.  I am taking four: Humanities with Dr. Bellver (HUM 258), Civilization of Latin America with Dr. Alfredo

Enriquez (SPA 270), Advanced Conversation with Lic. Miguel
Flores (SPA 300), and the Cultural Maya with Dr. James Callaghan (ANT 451).  They all have their ups and downs, justlike any class at Centre (or really, any class in college), but I would have to say that my favorite class here is Advanced Conversation.  I love learning new phrases and slang in Spanish, and I feel that the class activities we’ve had have certainly helped improve my language skills.
