"A Special Visit"

I think everyone was ready for fall break this week. Some students traveled around Belize, others the Chiapas area, while some of us stayed on the Yucatan Peninsula and explored with family and friends.

My fiancé, Jason Ball, came to visit me and to get to know this lovely place I’ve called home for the last six weeks. I must admit that I rather enjoyed playing the tour guide and getting to see Mexico from eyes that haven’t become accustomed to its unique attributes like I have.

We also managed to have quite an adventure along the way. We rented a VW Beetle; technically, it was made in 2001, but there was nothing new to this model. Actually, there wasn’t even anything in the car – no radio, no heating or cooling system, nothing. Of course, there was no manual, so figuring out the small things that you don’t think to ask the rental guy was exciting. You’d be surprised how long it took two Centre seniors to figure out how to get the trunk to lock. However, we got it all under control and headed on our way.
