Professor James Callaghan described Uxmal as a mega site, and indeed it was full of breathtaking ruins. A huge tiered pyramid crowned with an intricately decorated temple dominates the skyline. Other interesting features include the Nunnery Quadrangle, which consists of four buildings that face the four cardinal directions and are decorated in accordance with the directions they face, the Governors Palace, the House of the Tortoises and two ball courts. All in all, Jenny and I had a great day and returned home with very dirty feet and exhausted bodies.
