against the Russians.  We sat close to one of the bunkers as we had the day’s second lecture, this time from Dr. Workman,  in which we learned different eruption scenarios.

After Northhead, we took a bus to a nearby beach to look at more lava flows and take yet another dip in the ocean.  Unfortunately, our beach time was cut short as rain began to move in – we would soon learn that the weather in Auckland changes quickly throughout the day as it is on the ocean coast. 

That night, a few friends and I enjoyed talking to our backpacker friends, Oli and Rob, both from the UK.  Rob, coming from Singapore and soon off to Australia, told us of his newly embarked journey around the world.  It made for a fun conversation as we shared stories from around the world, as many Centre students are well traveled and full of stories from Ireland, Mexico, France, and now New Zealand.  Oh the things people do for a good story or two!
