Beginnings and Settling In:

This past week opened with Freshers' Fair. The term "fresher" is simply the equivalent of "freshman."

The fair spanned two days. The first day was dedicated to all the sports clubs offered at the University. The range was really fantastic. You could join anything from polo to fencing. I thought about joining the kayak club, but I then thought kayaking usually equals water, and England is quite chilly. I then thought about falling into cold water on an English morning, because this sort of thing would happen to me, and opted not to join the club. Carmelle joined the fencing team

and stated that the first meeting was difficult, but that it still seemed like it was going to be a lot of fun. Adam joined the aikido club and appears to be enjoying himself as well. To join a sports club you need to pay about $22 for the sports insurance. However, this fee seems small when you think about the opportunities you would have that are not necessarily present in the U.S.
