interactions did not show up. The tiny differences in how I
see something and how someone else sees the same thing are uncountable; it’s deeper than a language barrier.







 





Despite the vast differences in our backgrounds, visual experience gave Rajni and I some common ground.

To her, the silk for my saree cost a fortune. To me, it was a great deal. For her, it was traditional. For me, it was exotic. Both of us thought it was beautiful.
