Lesson Ten: Despite the irony, we can celebrate Thanksgiving in Turkey
I've made major progress on my final project for the abroad program I'm studying with. I'm doing a case study of my Turkish basketball team to learn more about the female athlete culture of Turkey. Through the process of interviews and observations, I'm developing stronger relationships with my teammates and coaches.
Our first game is on Monday; I'm super excited. I can't wait to see how Bilkent's team relates to another university. I might be in for a rude awakening because rumor has it Hacateppe is a really good team. I'm discovering, however, that sports at Bilkent are more about having fun, socializing, and having a sense of team camaraderie, than winning or losing.
I can't believe that tomorrow marks the beginning of the Christmas season! I've been in Turkey for three and a half months, which means I come home in a month! Time is slipping away, and before long I'll be home at last!
