Our last stop was at a killing field, which was memorialized with a monument filled with skulls and bones of some of the Khmer Rouge's victims. This was more chilling than anything I saw in Vietnam concerning the war. Seeing actual human remains was startling and made the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge more real and sickening than any of my history readings even started to. Our time at the killing field ended pleasantly, however, as I got to witness some schoolchildren learn English. They recited the ABCs for us and sang educational songs.

With my time in Cambodia ending on a somber note, the group caught our evening flight back to Saigon. After making a quick run for Binh Thanh market for a gift and food for my roommate, we headed to KFC for me, the best part of which was the fountain Pepsi. Back at the Rex, I'm going to unpack and start repacking, as we're heading home the day after tomorrow.
