The Cumberland Patriots hit a hume run in the bottom of the second to bring in the first runs of the game. Centre scored in the top of the fourth to get back in the game. The Patriots took a comfortable lead in the bottom of the inning when it extended its lead by three. In the bottom of the fifth they brought in five more runs. They finished scoring in the bottom of the sixth after bringing in three runs. Centre tried to rally late in the game but only scored one run in the top of the seventh when sophomore Drew Allison (Gordon, Ky.) drove sophomore Brandon Rosen (Ashland, Ky.) home.

Freshmen Aaron Herbert (Louisville, Ky.) started on the mound for the Colonels. He allowed five runs off seven hits. He was replaced by senior Johnny Karnes (Labanon, Ohio) in the fifth. Karnes allowed five runs off six hits and struck one batter out. Sophomore Jake Jones (Griffin, Ga.) came in to pitch the final inning of the game. He allowed three runs off two hits.
