Moore becomes 16th player in SCAC history with 200 hits

With his second hit in 12-2 loss to Austin College, Sunday, April 22, Centre College senior first baseman Eric Moore (Bowling Green, Ky.) became only the 16th player in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference  (SCAC) history to record 200 hits in a career.

After leading the Colonels to its first SCAC Tournament appearance in eight years, the senior needed five hits to reach the 200 hit-milestone. Moore recorded three hits in helping Centre split the first two games and then singled in his first at-bat in game three putting him one hit shy. In his final at-bat of the series, the 6-2, 235-pound infielder laced a double that hit the chalk down the left-field line for hit #200.

Moore has since added five more hits to his career-total and currently leads Centre with a .406 average on the year with three games left to play. He has recorded 54 hits, including 15 doubles, two triples and three home runs while driving in a team-high 41 runs and playing in all 39 of Centre's games this season.

Entering the 2007 season, Moore ranked second in SCAC history in with a .418 career-batting average and tied for eighth in league history averaging 1.44 hits per game.  With three games left in his career, Moore currently ranks eighth by himself with 1.45 hits per game and fifth with a .4149 career-batting average.

The three-time first team all-SCAC pick and three-time Academic Honor Roll selection has also been a three-time team MVP and will arguably finish his career as one of the best players in Centre baseball history.

Moore will conclude his outstanding career with a game against Transylvania Wednesday, May 2 at Applebee's Park in Lexington, Ky. and then a season-ending doubleheader Saturday, May 5 at home against Franklin College.
