Baseball News

Jones was the starting pitcher in the Colonels first round upset of the top seeded, and host school, Millsaps Majors. He pitched all nine innings giving up only two earned runs in the 4-2 win for Centre. Jones struck out six with four walks while holding the opponents to a .241 batting average in leading the way to the first round upset.

Rosen played in all four of the Colonels games going seven for 15 for a .467 batting average. He hit one home run, a three-run shot in Centre's elimination game win over DePauw, scored two runs, and drove in four runners over the weekend. He also knocked in a key run in the Colonels' win over Millsaps.

Rosen and Jones become the first two players in school history during the SCAC era to be named to an all-tournament team. Prior to this year, Centre had only won one championship tournament game (1996). This year, the Colonels knocked off No. 5 Millsaps as well as DePauw, the number one see in the east. Centre did win one game in the SCAC Cross Divisional two years ago and has now won three postseason games in the past three years.

Centre, now 11-23 on the season will finish the year with a game against Transylvania Wednesday, April 29 in Lexington, Ky. and then a doubleheader Saturday, May 2 against Hanover College in Danville, Ky.
