For the fifth consecutive year, the Centre College baseball team will hold its annual end of fall Cols' World Series. The Series has been extended to a five game series this year and will be played over six days instead of the three-game series played in the past.

The Colonels will play seven-inning games starting Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25, in a best of five format at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky. The Cols' World Series, started in the fall of 2005, is played at the end of the fall of the Colonels' four-week non-traditional season. Prior to the Series, team captains alternate picks in drafting teams to square off against one another for bragging rights.

"I think a lot of the guys look forward to this at the end of the fall and it's become a part of our program that the guys really enjoy," Centre head coach Mike Pritchard said.

"It's been a lot of fun in past years as guys get very competitive against each other. They do not want to be on the losing team and it shows by the way they play and compete in these games," Pritchard added.

Senior Aaron Herbert (Louisville, Ky.) is the captain of Team Gold and junior Cory Crowdis (Louisville, Ky.) is the captain of Team Black. While gold and white are Centre's official school colors, the Black and Gold team names were chosen due to the colors of the jerseys the teams will be wearing. The captains drafted the teams below and will be responsible for coordinating practices for their respective teams the week of the games.

“Last year's series was very competitive and a lot of fun," Herbert said.

"I expect this series to be just as competitive, and I have a lot of faith that the gold team will avenge last year's loss and come out on top this time,” Herbert finished.

The Centre coaching staff has also been split up to assist the captains in making game decisions as well as setting lineups and pitching match-ups. Assistant coach Kyle Wynn will assist the Gold team and Pritchard will assist the Black team.
