MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Following on the heels of their first conference championship since 1993, the men's basketball team cleaned up in SCAC All-League selections.
In exclusive voting by the head coaches of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the Centre Colonels swept every major award given; this is the first time that has happened since the conference began recognizing more than just Player and Coach of the Year following the 1999-2000 season.
Garnering SCAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Year was junior guard Matt Nestheide (Edgewood, KY). Picking up Defensive Player-of-the-Year was senior center John Patterson (Lexington, KY), while freshman forward Danny Noll (Fort Mitchell, KY) was named Newcomer-of-the-Year, and rounding out the selections was head coach Greg Mason who was named Coach-of-the-Year.
Nestheide earned his honor by finishing the regular season ranked ninth in scoring (14.7 ppg) as well as fourth in assists (3.3 apg), ninth in field goal percentage (52.5%), third in free throw percentage (84.6%) and 10th in three-point field goals made (45). Nestheide is the second consecutive Centre player to earn the league's highest honor, following Reggie Magnusson last season.

Patterson earned Defensive Player-of-the-Year by finishing the season ranked fourth in the league for rebounding (7.8 rpg) and first in blocked shots (2.1 bpg). Patterson was also an offensive threat for the Colonels, averaging 8.2 points per game and he led the team by shooting 58.5% from the field.

Noll would gain his honor of Newcomer-of-the-Year after averaging 6.9 points and three rebounds per game. Noll also ranked seventh in the SCAC in three-point field goal percentage with 42.1%. He scored in double figures seven times during the season and made three or more three-pointers three different times.
Mason, in his eighth season at the helm of the Colonels, is being honored for the first time as Coach-of-the-Year. He has a career record of 139-67 which is the highest winning percentage (67.5%) in school history. Mason's winning percentage is also the highest among all active SCAC men's basketball coaches. In only eight season at Centre, Mason ranks second in school history for all-time wins, behind legend Tom Bryant's 382 wins earned from 1968-1996.
Nestheide, Patterson, Noll, and Mason were not the only Centre Colonels to receive recognition for their efforts on the court this year from the SCAC. Earning second team All-SCAC honors was senior forward Matt Jacobson (LaGrange, KY.), while sophomore guard T.C. Thomason (Russellville, Ky.) earned Honorable Mention All-SCAC accolades.
