Men's basketball cruises to 86-69 win over UC-Clermont
Thirteen different players scored at least one point as the Centre College men's basketball team cruised to an 86-69 non-conference victory over the University of Cincinnati-Clermont, Wednesday, Dec. 12 in Danville, Ky.
With the win, the Colonels have now won four straight games and improve to 4-1 overall, while UC-Clermont falls to 4-8 on the season.
With the score tied at 12 apiece at the 15:26 mark in the first half, Centre went on a 15-3 run to take a 27-15 lead just over halfway through the first period. The first half lead grew to 23 points (46-23), before ending the half with the Colonels in front 47-31.
Centre scored the first five points of the second half to lead by 21 points (52-31) and would push the lead to as many as 27 points (67-40) before finishing with the 17-point win.
The Colonels shot 50.8% (30-59) on the evening and out scored the Cougars 37-14 in bench points. UC Clermont shot 46.4% (26-56), but turned the ball over 18 times and was out scored 12-0 on second chance points.
Junior forward T.C. Thomason (Russellville, Ky.) scored 15 of his team-high 18 points in the first half and finished the game five of seven from the field, including three of three from the three-point line and five of five from the charity stripe. Senior guard Thomas Britt (Louisville, Ky.) also scored in double figures recording 14 points in 20 minutes of action.
Stefan Dunn led three Cougars in double figures with a game-high 21 points. He also had four steals and three rebounds. Jeff Kinney scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jahleal Jarmon added 13 points.
Centre will return to action Tuesday, Dec. 18 to host the Thomas More Saints in another non-conference contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Danville, Ky. |
