Ohio Wesleyan ends Heidelberg's season
DANVILLE, KY- After a quick surge in the first few minutes of the game the Heidelberg Student Princes lost to the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan 83-62 in first round action of the 2008 Men's NCAA Division III Basketball Championship. The game was played Friday March 7, 2008 on the campus of Centre College as part of a double header.
Ohio Wesleyan finished the second half with a 44-30 lead over Heidelberg. The Battling Bishops shot 58.1% from the field overall with seven for ten from the three point arc. Heidelberg was only able to shoot 38.3% from the field during the first half with two for seven from the long range.
The second half saw the numbers line-up better between the two teams as Ohio Wesleyan shot 37.9% from the field while Heidelberg stayed consistent at 33.3% overall. Heidelberg was able to win the battle of the boards 41 to 39 over Ohio Wesleyan but was never able to regain the lead they built during the first few minutes.
This marks the end of the season for the Heidelberg Student Princes while Ohio Wesleyan will face off against the winner of the second game played Friday night between host Centre College and visiting Franklin College. The second round match-up is set to tip off at 7:00 pm on Saturday March 8.
