Centre overcomes 10 point half-time deficit to win by 10
The Centre College men's basketball team was able to overcome a 34-24 deficit at half-time to beat in-state rival Transylvania by a final score of 66-56 at the Beck Center located on the campus of Transylvania in the heart of Lexington, KY on December 20, 2007.
The team was lead by junior guard T.C. Thompson (Russellville, Ky.) who had 23 total points, including 7-7 from the free throw line. Backing up Thompson was senior guard Thomas Britt (Louisville, Ky.) who would combine for 16 total points with 2 of 4 shooting form the three-point arc while only allowing two turnovers.
The key advantage for the Colonels was their turnover ratio compared to the pioneers of Transylvania. While the Colonels only turned over the ball nine times in the 40 minute contest, Transylvania committed 16 turnovers in the same block of time. Also, on the positive side statistically for the Colonels was blocked shots, a six to zero ratio in favor of the Gold and White.
Centre will return to action Friday, Dec. 28 as they host the annual Papa John's/Country Hearth Inn Tournament. The Colonels are set to tip off against Adrian College at 7:30 p.m. in Danville, Ky. |
