Centre wins at Rhodes, 73-69
The Centre College men's basketball team opened up its two game SCAC road trip with a win against host Rhodes College, 73-69, on Friday, Feb. 6, in Memphis, Tenn. The Colonels have now won 8 of their last 9 SCAC games.
Neither Centre nor Rhodes could build and maintain a lead in the first half, with lead changing hands ten times. The Colonels went into half down three, 38-35. Junior forward Danny Noll (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) paced the Colonels in the first half scoring 13 points.
Centre finally wrestled the lead away from Rhodes at the 5:00 minute mark in the second half in route to winning their sixteenth game of the year. Noll led the Colonels with a game-high 21 points. It was the thrid straight game Noll has scored more than twenty points. Sophomore center Alex Lloyd (Lexington, Ky.) scored 15 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Senior Forward T.C. Thomason (Russellville, Ky.) scored 15 points and senior point guard Ryan Crowdis (Louisville, Ky.) scored 13 points, recorded 8 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.
For the game the Colonels shot 27 for 59 (45.8) from the field and out-rebounded the Lynx by four, 34-30. The win improves the Colonels' season record to 16-4, 9-2 in the SCAC. The loss drops the Rhodes Lynx to 7-13 on the year.
The Colonels return to action on Sunday, Feb. 8, at SCAC opponent Birmingham Southern. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
