Lisa H. Owens took over both the Centre College men's and women's cross country teams in 1998 after coaching only the women in 1997. Owens graduated from Berea College in 1996 where she earned a bachelors degree in Physical Education and a minor in Nutrition. While at Berea, Owens earned varsity letters in cross country, track, and tennis. The three-time high school state track champion also once held nine school records in track at Berea. In 1995, Owens was invited to compete on the NAIA International Track & Field team where she toured and competed in Europe. She earned a masters degree in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2000. Owens is also the Head men's and women's track coach.
Coach Owens plans on continuing and improving upon the success of both cross country programs. "Our runners are very talented and dedicated to this sport that they love; they are also some of the top academic students in the nation, which makes for a great combination. I will work hard to continue to recruit the right student athletes that will meet our need both in the classroom and on the course." Coach Owens married her husband Scott in June of 1998. They have one daughter Meghan and one son Cameron. |
