Blank named SCAC Runner-of-the-Week
Centre College junior Nate Blank (Frakes, Ky.) has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for his effort Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Meet in Memphis, Tenn.
Blank ran an outstanding race finishing 12th place overall out of 200 competitors, most of which were from NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools. He finished the 8k course in 24:43 a new school record.
Centre finished third overall in the team standings out of 24 schools, beating Western Kentucky University as well as many other scholarship programs in the process.
The honor is the second of Blank's career. He was also named the SCAC's Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week in week 8 of his freshman year in 2004. The last Centre runner to take home runner-of-the-week honors was current senior Eric Hack (Louisville, Ky.) in week 1 of last year.
The Centre men will next participate in the Southeastern Classic hosted by Berea College, Saturday, Oct. 28, in Berea, Ky.
