Colonels place second at SCAC Championships
Hosting the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Cross Country Championships for the first time since 2001, the Centre College men's cross country team placed second overall out of 10 teams, Saturday, Oct. 28, in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels, which placed third the last time they hosted the meet, finished with a team score of 59 points, only 11 points behind overall team champion DePauw University, which finished with 48 points. The Tigers have now won seven straight men's team titles.
Senior Eric Hack (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Nate Blank (Frakes, Ky.) paced the Colonels, placing sixth and seventh overall. Hack finished the race in 26:53, followed by Blank with a time of 27:04. Senior Anthony Lippert (Harrodsburg, Ky.) placed 14th overall with a time of 27:44. By placing in the top 14, Hack, Blank and Lippert earned all-conference accolades, marking the second all-conference award for each runner.
Sophomores Chase Wilson (Paducah, Ky.) and Jason Parks (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out the top five for the Colonels. Wilson was 15th with a time of 27:49, while Polio finished 17th overall in a time of 28:03.
Colorado College, which competed in the championships for the first time after recently becoming a member of the conference, had the top three finishers. Sophomore Julian Boggs, a Berea, Ky. native, was the overall individual winner out of 83 competitors, finishing the 8k race in 26:32.
Centre will next compete in the NCAA Regionals Saturday, Nov. 11. The meet will take place in Atlanta, Ga.
