Men's cross country 8th at Pre-Nationals
On the course that will be used for the NCAA Division III National Championship meet, the Centre College men's cross country team placed eighth out of 16 total teams at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet, Friday, Sept. 22, in West Chester, Ohio.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 217 points on the Voice of America Park course, only five points behind Washington University, which finished with 212 points for seventh place. SUNY-Geneseo won the overall team title with a score of 71 points placed four runners in the top 20.
Junior Nate Blank (Frakes, Ky.) paced the Colonels, placing ninth overall out of 210 runners with a time of 26:02. Senior Eric Hack (Louisville, Ky.) was 20th overall with a time of 26:20 on the 8k course.
Sophomore Chase Wilson (Paducah, Ky.), senior Anthony Lippert (Harrodsburg, Ky.) and sophomore Joey Polio (Owensboro, Ky.) rounded out the top five for Centre. Wilson finished in 53rd place with a time of 26:56, followed by Lippert in 71st place (27:08) and Polio in 85th place (27:22).
Pomona Pitzer's Will Leer was the meet's overall individual winner, finishing the race with a time of 25:22.
