Cross Country News

Both the men's and women's cross country teams finished in fourth place at the SCAC Championship meet on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Conyers, Ga. The Centre men finished with 87 points and the women had 123 points.

The men's team was hoping to win the conference again this year, but came away with the fourth place finish. Centre had two runners receive All-Conference honors for finishing in the top 14.

Senior Jason Parks (Louisville, Ky.) took third place at the meet finishing with a time of 24:55. Junior Clinton Cahall (Georgetown, Ohio) completed the race in 25:01, which was good enough for sixth place. Parks and Cahall were named All-Conference members.

Sophomore Willie Polio (Owensboro, Ky.) came in 18th place and ran the race in 25:47. Junior Sam Morgan (Danville,Ky.) would come in 29th with a 26:31 and rounding out the top five runners for the Colonels was sophomore Graham Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) who finished in 33rd place in a time of 26:40.

Jackson Brainerd from Colorado College won the men's SCAC Championship meet with a time of 24:29.

Colorado College won the men's SCAC Championship meet with 45 points. DePauw University would finish second (58 points) and Trinity University would come in third place with a team total of 79 points.

The Centre women's team improved in the race this year with the fourth place finish, as they have finished in sixth place the past two years.

Sophomore Bekah Rehkamp (Florence, Ky.) would receive All-Conference for her 11th place finish. Rehkamp completed the race in 24:32.

Senior Lauren McCafferty (Newport, Ky.) finished in 18th place with a time of 25:15. Third for the Colonels was junior Regina Basconi (Johnson City, Tenn.) running the race in 26:09, which was good enough for 32nd place. Junior Haley Gray (Lexington, Ind.) was right behind Basconi with a 33rd place finish and a time of 26:09. Senior Bethany Pratt (Richmond, Ky.) was 38th with a time of 26:23

Lauren Reich from DePauw University was the overall winner in the women's SCAC Championship race with a time of 22:12.

DePauw University won the women's SCAC Championship meet with 33 points. Rhodes College finished in second place (35 points) and Hendrix College would finish in third place (82 points).

The men's and women's teams will next compete in regional's on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Greensboro, N.C.
