Polio earns SCAC Runner of the Week accolades
Centre College sophomore Willie Polio has become the second Centre men's cross country runner to be named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Runner of the Week this fall following his performance at the Centre Invitational Saturday, Sept. 12.
Polio had an outstanding race this past Saturday, as he finished in first place (his first collegiate win) in a field of Division I and NAIA schools. The sophomore harrier toured the very difficult 8,000-meter course in 27:23 which was 1:30 faster than his time at the same meet last year while leading the Colonels to a first place team finish.
Senior Jason Parks (Louisville, Ky.) was named the league's top runner last week after his efforts at the Sewanee Invitational.
The Colonels will take a week off and then compete at the Georgetown Invitational Saturday, Sept. 26 in Georgetown, Ky. |
