Women run to 12th place finish at Pre-Nationals
In preparation for the NCAA Division III National Championships, the Centre College women's cross country team placed 12th out of 15 schools at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet, Friday, Sept. 22, in West Chester, Ohio.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 329 on the Voice of America Park course. SUNY-Geneseo was the overall team winner with 33 points, placing five runners in the top 20, including four in the top 10 and three in the top five.
Senior Eileen Schilling (Louisville, Ky.) was the top finisher for the Colonels running the 6k course in 23:20 to place 31st overall. Senior Ines Kevric (Bowling Green, Ky.) placed 61st out of 181 runners with a time of 23:57.
Freshman Ashley Gregory (New Albany, Ohio) was third for the Colonels and 68th overall with a time of 24:07. Freshmen Lauren McCafferty (Newport, Ky.) and Jessi Asher (Brodhead, Ky.) rounded out the top five for Centre. McCafferty was 125th (25:36), while Asher finished 131st (25:51).
SUNY-Geneseo's Elizabeth Montgomery was the overall individual winner. Montgomery ran the race in 21:10.
Centre will next compete, Saturday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Memphis, Tenn. |
