The Centre College men's and women's cross country teams ended their 2007 season at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional Championships with the men's team placing seventh and the women's team 12th, Saturday, Nov. 10 in Newport News, Va.

The men's team finished with a team score of 206 to place seventh overall out of 21 competing schools. Rhodes College won the team title with a score of 76, followed by Emory University in second (76) and the University of Texas-Tyler in third (77).

Senior Nate Blank (Frakes, Ky.) and sophomore Jason Parks (Louisville, Ky.) paced the Colonels. Blank was the first Centre runner across the line, finishing in 14th place with a time of 26:36. Parks was 31st with a time of 27:22. For their efforts, both runners earned all-region honors.

Freshman Sam Morgan (Danville, Ky.), junior Joey Polio (Owensboro, Ky.) and senior John Schuler (Prospect, Ky.) rounded out the top five for Centre. Morgan was 41st with a time of 27:43. Polio finished in 55th place with a time of 28:01, and Schuler was 77th with a time of 28:34.

R.J. Cowan of Texas-Tyler was the overall winner out of 170 total competitors. Cowan finished the 8k course in 26:02 to edge out teammate Ben Donnan by three seconds.

The women's team placed 12th overall out of 28 total schools with a score of 330. Emory University won the team championship with a score of 52, followed by Trinity University in second (54) and Washington and Lee University in third (104).

Sophomore Lauren McCafferty (Newport, Ky.) and sophomore Holly Overcash (Goshen, Ky.) led the Colonels. McCafferty ran a 25:26 to place 46th, while Overcash finished in 26:05 to place 65th.

Freshmen Regina Basconi (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Rachel Blank (Frakes, Ky.) and senior Christanna Schuman (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out the top five for Centre.

Basconi was 71st overall with a time of 26:21. Blank was close behind in 74th with a time of 26:26 and Schuman came in 78th place with a 26:34.

Trinity's D'Ann Arthur won the individual championship out of 186 total runners. Arthur completed the 5k course in 23:01.
